Man Taken Into Custody After Foot Pursuit On Central Street

Manchester Police Undercover Street Crime Officers attempted to stop and arrest a man with warrants at Central Street and Pine Street Wednesday. The police chased the man up the alley where they saw him run between two multi-unit houses.

Officers in marked cruisers flooded the area just after 5:30 p.m. and set up a perimeter and began evacuating the people from the first floor of the house where they saw the man enter.

Several officers worked to search the path the suspect took for items that were allegedly thrown by the man as police chased him.

Members of the Street Crime Unit and SWAT Officers entered the first floor and searched for the man. A Manchester Police k9 was brought to the scene and assisted the officers in searching the building.

According to sources at the scene, the man was found on the second floor of the building and taken into custody.

The incident appeared to be over at about 8:00 p.m.

At this time there is no official information from Manchester Police on what the specifics are on why the person was wanted, and any possible additional charges.
