Second Prisoner Dies This Year While In Custody Of Hillsborough County House Of Corrections
MANCHESTER, NH - An inmate who was being held at the Hillsborough County House Of Corrections while in custody and awaiting trial.
Jonathan Lozada, 34, of Manchester, NH died while being treated at the hospital. Lozada was transferred to the hospital Friday and died at the Elliot Hospital after receiving medical treatment.
Lozada was booked at the House of Corrections Tuesday and was held on preventive detention and was awaiting trial on charges of criminal threatening, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest/detention as well as assault by prisoner and violation of parole.
In a statement, Superintendent Costanzo said "Events of this nature are tragic, and the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections and the Superintendent express their condolences to Mr. Lozada’s family who have been notified."
Superintendent Costanzo stated, “After initial review surrounding the facts of this incident, it was determined not to be suspicious in nature.”
AMR ambulance was dispatched to the jail at 8:47 a.m. for a "sick person" and it was classified as a low-priority call. This is the only dispatch of fire or EMS to the location on Friday. It is unknown if this was the prisoner who died at the hospital.
The House Corrections had a prisoner died in June this year, and also another prisoner died in March of 2022.
The Hillsborough County House of Corrections is also the location where indictments were handed down for an alleged assault by a correctional officer, the trial for those charges has not taken place.
