MFD Works To Extricate Man After Head-On Crash On Front Street

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire, and AMR ambulance responded to a head-on collision in the area of 1600 Front Street just after 10:00 a.m.

When responders arrived they had a man entrapped in a vehicle with serious leg injuries and requiring extrication. MFD Rescue 1 responded to the scene with hydraulic cutting and spreading devices and began to remove the doors from the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Firefighters provided medical care to the victim in the car and covered him to protect him from the glass breaking from the extrication. Firefighters worked for about 45 minutes to extricate the victim, and AMR medics requested a trauma team activation while the patient was being extricated.

The victim was removed and transported to a local hospital with what appears to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment and remained at the scene.

Front Street was closed for over an hour while crews worked to remove the victim, and police investigated the accident.
