Firefighters Quickly Knock Down House Fire On Beech Street

Manchester, NH - Manchester Fire dispatch received multiple calls from people reporting a structure fire on Beech Street on Friday.

Firefighters arrived to smoke coming from a single-family home at 885 Beech Street and stretched hose lines and made entry into the house. At the time responders were not sure if the building was occupied and began searching for occupants.

After a short search crews were notified that one man who was home at the time of the fire escaped safely and was outside on the sidewalk.

Crews quickly suppressed the bulk of the fire within minutes and began opening walls and ceilings looking for where the fire extended.

Windows were opened, and some removed so that smoke could be ejected from the house and the under control was given within 20 minutes of the original dispatch.

The fire damage appears to be limited to one bedroom which appears to be where the fire began. The house had smoke damage throughout the building. As part of standard protocol power was disconnected by Eversource and the structure is not able to be occupied until significant repairs are made.

At this time the exact cause of the fire is undetermined but it appears to be accidental.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
