Escapee From Manchester Transitional House, Shot And Killed During Theft At Miami Retail Store
MANCHESTER, NH - Darien Young, 29 who walked away from the Calumet House on Lowell Street on July 21st has died in Florida.
Thursday Young was identified as a suspect in stealing at a retail store in Miami Beach and when Miami Beach Police arrived was threatening two individuals at knifepoint. An officer discharged his firearm, striking Young. There were no other injuries reported.
Young was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died. Young’s next of kin have been notified. Any further inquiries regarding the incident in Miami Beach should be referred to the Miami Beach Police Department.
Young was incarcerated for receiving stolen property (2 counts), controlled drug acts prohibited, burglary, and falsifying physical evidence, with a minimum parole eligibility date of July 31, 2023, and a maximum release date of January 31, 2028.
