Manchester Man Charged With Sex Assault On A Child, Parole Violation

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Police began an investigation into an assault of a child on June 16th that Manchester Police Lieutenant Nicholas Georgoulis believed took place in Manchester over a period of time.

The investigation led to probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for James L. Aubuchont, age 51, of Manchester. On July 12th, 2023, Aubuchont was located and arrested in Sandwich by the US Marshal Service, with the assistance of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the US Forest Service.

In court paperwork obtained by Manchester Information, it outlines that the investigation began after a complaint was filed with DCYF. As the complaint was being investigated two young children were interviewed which led to further interviews by the Child Advocacy Center.

Police attempted to interview Aubuchont about allegations, and Aubuchont stopped the interview when he told detectives “I know where this line of questioning is going”.

Based on information gathered in the Child Advocacy interview, a search warrant was applied for and obtained for electronic items that Aubuchont had at his apartment, in his vehicle, and on his person.

The search warrant was executed at 557 Pine Street apartment #6. Several electronic items were seized, and are continuing to be analyzed.

Aubuchont who is on parole until 2030 for previous convictions indicated in conversations on the electronic devices that he was headed back to prison.

Aubuchont’s parole officer requested that Aubuchont check in on July 7th, which he failed to do.

The suspect is accused of two felonies, aggravated felonious sexual assault against a person under the age of 13, and a pattern of sexual assault. He is also being held on violation of parole.

After being arrested the defendant appeared in Hillsborough Superior Court Monday where he was ordered to be held on preventative detention. He is ordered to have no contact with the victims directly or through third parties. He is also not to have any contact or be around anyone under the age of 18.

This investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are likely to follow. If anyone has further information about this investigation, please contact Detective Adrianne Davenport at (603) 792-5549, or the Manchester Police Department at (603) 668-8711.
