Man Assaulted With Tree Branch And Machete-Style Knife

On July 8, 2022, at approximately 7:30 AM, Manchester Police received a report of an assault in the area of 123 Spruce St.

Arriving officers located a wounded man lying in the grass, and he was taken to Elliot Hospital with serious injuries.

Through the course of the investigation and in viewing the surveillance video, police learned that the 34-year-old victim had been lying in the grass near the Pericles Club when another man approached him with a large tree branch. The man held the branch over his head in a threatening manner and then hit the victim multiple times. The suspect left briefly but returned moments later and hit the victim one more time before walking away. Shortly after the assault, passersby came to the man’s aid and called 911.

Along with this incident, surveillance video captured another altercation unfolding between the victim and the suspect the previous night. In that incident, the suspect is seen holding a large machete-style knife to the victim’s throat. After a short period of time, the victim is able to free himself, but the suspect continues to point the knife at him.

Police were able to identify the suspect as 54-year-old Aaron Allen of Manchester. He was located and arrested. Allen faces charges of First Degree Assault, Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, and Falsifying Evidence.

Allen will be arraigned today (7/11/22) in Hillsborough Superior Court-North.
