Child Assault Investigation

On January 17th, 2023, at approximately 10:45 AM, Manchester Police were called to an Eastern Avenue address for a report of a 7-year-old boy who had suffered significant burns to his face and body. It was also reported that the boy was not conscious or breathing.

The child was immediately brought to a local hospital for treatment and subsequently moved to another hospital for more advanced care. Aside from the burns, medical professionals indicated they found other injuries as well.

The Manchester Police Juvenile Unit immediately began investigating this incident, and on January 19th, 2023, 25-year-old Murtadah Mohammad, who is known to the victim, was arrested. Mohammad is charged with one count of First Degree Assault (felony), two counts of Second Degree Assault (felony), two counts of Falsifying Physical Evidence (felony), and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
