Arrests Made in December Armed Robbery

Manchester Police arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery that happened late last year. Malachi Thwaites, 27, and Liston DeSilva, 28, both of Manchester were arrested on January 24, 2024 and face felony charges.

On December 29, 2023, Manchester Police responded to the area of 279 Second Street in reference to an armed robbery. Dispatch advised officers that they had an open line with a female who said she had been robbed and someone had shot a gun.

Arriving officers located the female victim and learned that she and a male had been walking near Second and Cleveland Streets when two men approached them, pointed a gun, and robbed them. Afterwards, one of the men fired a gun. No one was hurt during the altercation, but officers did find shell casings in the area.

Through the investigation, police identified Thwaites and DeSilva and warrants were issued for their arrests. Thwaites and DeSilva were arrested and charged with Robbery and Criminal Threatening with a Firearm. DeSilva was additionally charged with Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon for firing a gun.
